We want to share with you some important news regarding the future of Love Courage Hope (LCH). After much thought, the Committee has decided to transfer LCH’s ongoing operations to the Cabrini Foundation with effect from 1 July 2017.
As you know, LCH was established in 2011 with the goal of enriching the lives of those diagnosed with cancer, and their carers and loved ones. Over the years since then, we have raised funds through a range of activities, most notably our Gala Cocktail parties in 2012, 2013 and 2015. As well as providing treasured memories for us all, these events have raised almost $200,000 since our formation. The generosity of you, our friends, sponsors and supporters, has allowed us to achieve these wonderful results.
In recent times, our focus has shifted from research and fundraising to applying the funds raised for the benefit of cancer carers and patients, and their families. Many of those we have helped have come from our existing network of friends and contacts. As we aim to spread our support as widely as is practical, we have also made contact with schools, hospitals, sporting clubs and other community groups in our local area to ensure that our services are offered to individuals within those communities where appropriate.
Since 2012 we have distributed around $100,000 to cancer research and support, including around $25,000 in direct financial support to cancer patients, carers and families. This support can take many different forms: day-to-day living costs such as gardening, home cleaning, laundry; costs incurred as a result of undergoing treatment such as parking, fuel vouchers, child minding, accommodation; and funding a special event or an enriching experience to help patient or carer emotional wellbeing during the difficult treatment period such as a pamper pack, movie night with children or a special dinner with a partner.
Over this period the Committee has thought long and hard about the future of the Foundation, and we recognised it was time to find alternative means for distribution of funds while maintaining the core values of LCH. After careful thought we have accepted a proposal to transfer our ongoing operations to Cabrini Foundation. Established in 2007, the Cabrini Foundation oversees and guides all fundraising and fund distribution activities on behalf of Cabrini Health. It has professional management in place and will take on the responsibility for equitably distributing funds to carers and patients in line with the values and specific guidelines we have laid out. Further information is available at www.cabrini.com.au/about-us/cabrini-foundation.
We are delighted that the Love Courage Hope name will continue to be used within the Cabrini Foundation. The LCH Committee is confident that the Cabrini Foundation has an ethos, vision and values consistent with those we have developed, and we are excited about our new future. We thank you for your wonderful commitment and support for LCH over the past 6 years, and invite you to continue to support the many families in need as we transition to the Cabrini Foundation.
With love and thanks
